What size Guitar do I need ?
Monday, 12 September 2011 20:04

99% of all adults and most teenagers will need a full size guitar. However if you are choosing for a child, you may need something smaller. The main issue to address is the size of the body of the guitar relative to the player. A player seated in the correct playing position must be able to place their right arm over the body of the guitar, and be able to comfortably reach the strings.

As a very rough guide, a ½ size guitar will suit a 5-8 year old, ¾ size a 9-12 year old, and full size 13 and above. If in doubt, visit our shop with the child and we’ll be happy to advise you.

Why buy from a Guitar Store, why not a large do everything retailer?
Monday, 12 September 2011 19:50

We saw this on a web forum and it made us laugh 'Adults should get a full size guitar. Instead of buying the 41" internet guitar, take half of that money and flush it down the toilet. That way you'll have saved at least half of the money you were about to waste on an unplayable guitar. Buy a guitar at a guitar store and nowhere else.

Guitars for Beginners - Back to School Guitars
Monday, 12 September 2011 19:46

ts a new term and its soon going to be the run up to christmas!

if your looking to start learning guitar this article should answer a few common questions…

What guitar should i buy for my child?

It depends on the age of your child  and If you or your child is looking to get into guitar and want to start learning contemporary songs such as rock and pop, jazz and blues rather than classical our recommendation is to call us and discuss.

Is there anything else i need?

When you have your guitar or guitar pack it is advised that you also purchase an electric guitar tuner.

When is a good age to start?

This is a very common question. It really depends on the student. Typically ages in schools are from 6 – 7 to start learning, but in short lessons. but this depends on the student and how much attention they can give to the subject. We advise simply trying a trial lesson and seeing how it goes before committing to expenses purchases or further lessons.
